Woodstock Writers' Workshop

The window on the left, where it says Buy the Book---FICTION NOIR: THIRTEEN STORIES, is an anthology of really fun noir stories, writers worth taking a look at. Okay, so a short story of our THE VILLAGE IDIOT is in there too. It's actually chapter 1 of the novel version, which we've just finished. We're hoping it's like a shot of whiskey: You either take down the whole thing or nothing at all. We have to admit that it took us some time to finish this novel project because every time we passed through it, we discovered new voices in the characters. It's our first collaboration so when it came to life it really started living. We also were true to the life details, and we don't just mean the ballistics and weapons. The Village Idiot just may be based on a real Woodstock area resident. THE VILLAGE IDIOT is the first in a series we're writing called WOODSTOCK NOIR. And like THE VILLAGE IDIOT, there is some truth and some fiction to each story. We'll leave it to our friends, former friends and neighbors to separate fact from fantasy--but we may never admit the truth. Well, maybe we will in person. We're teaching a workshop on collaboration--and finding the right magical partner--at the Woodstock Writer's Festival on April 20, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (check out the flyer below).
